More About our Treatment for Weak Chins
A weak chin is also referred to as an under projected or receding chin. Dr. Croland can determine if you have a weak chin by using a tool called the Rickett’s Esthetic Line. An ideally aligned chin is approximately in the same vertical plane as the lips when looking at a person’s profile. The Rickett’s Esthetic Line is a straight line that goes from the tip of your nose to the tip of your chin, shown by holding up a pencil or straight object touching the tip of the nose and tip of the chin. The lips should be about two to four millimeters from this line. In people with a weak chin the Rickett’s Esthetic Line either touches the lips or goes through the lips. By correcting your weak chin, Dr. Croland can make the face appear more balanced in women, and create a more masculine look for men by improving the jawline appearance. By moving the chin forward the skin along the jawline is tightened, becoming more defined. This also decreases the appearance of jowls which make a person look older.
