Stretch marks are streaks across the skin caused by extreme stretching of the skin due to lack of elasticity. A stretch mark is actually a scar where the skin is ruptured and then heals.
Not everyone develops stretch marks. Genetics can be at play, or fluctuating hormone levels in the body.

Rapid weight loss or gain
Weight training when you have rapid muscle growth

The appearance of stretch marks on the skin could signal hormonal imbalances which are treated using HRT – Hormone Replacement Therapy. Dr. Croland can test for this, and administer treatment to regulate your hormones. If the stretch marks are from pregnancy or rapid growth, they are typically treated using a laser and/or combination of other skin resurfacing techniques. Dr. Croland has many happy patients who have watched their stretch marks fade and disappear within a reasonable time frame after a series of treatment sessions.

Hyperdilute Radiesse is an injectable solution that stimulates collagen and tightens the skin. Microneedling and acoustic wave therapy are also used to treat stretch marks, depending on the severity and skin type of the patient. Dr. Croland will determine the best procedure or combination of treatments for you.

This depends on the skin type of the patient and severity of the scarring.

There is some discomfort associated with procedures where needles are used to puncture the skin. Dr. Croland strives to minimize discomfort by applying a topical numbing solution prior to the procedure.

There could be some downtime for the skin to heal from redness caused by microneedling. There is no downtime for dermal filler injections or acoustic wave therapy.

You may notice some slight bruising with injections. You will see immediate results with the use of Hyperdilute Radiess and continual improvement as collagen is stimulated. You will notice the best results after the redness goes away. Depending on your skin type, it could take several weeks to see the results created by the production of collagen in the skin.
