Looking Like Yourself — Not Someone Else’s Idea of Better

Most people who come to Learn2Renew are not looking to look different. They are looking to look like themselves again — the version of themselves that appeared well-rested, whose features still had definition, whose expressions read as animated rather than tired.

That distinction — between looking different and looking like yourself — is the foundation of everything Dr. Croland does with injectables. After more than two decades of performing neurotoxin and filler treatments, he has developed a clear philosophy: use the minimum effective amount, place it precisely, and always work in service of the face the patient has rather than the face someone else might design.

Every unit of neurotoxin and every syringe of filler at Learn2Renew is placed by Dr. Croland personally — a physician who first injected Botox in 2000 and has been refining his technique and clinical judgment ever since.

Botox, Dysport & Xeomin

Neurotoxins work by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for dynamic facial wrinkles — the frown lines between the brows, the horizontal lines across the forehead, the crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes. When placed correctly, they soften expression lines without erasing expression itself.

The frozen, surprised, or expressionless result associated with over-treated patients is not a product of neurotoxins. It is a product of too much product placed incorrectly. With appropriate dosing and precise anatomical placement, a well-executed neurotoxin treatment is virtually undetectable to anyone who doesn’t know to look for it.

What to expect

  • Treatment takes 10–20 minutes with no downtime
  • Results begin appearing within 3–5 days, full effect at 10–14 days
  • Results typically last 3–4 months, varying by individual and area treated
  • Dosing and product selection customized to your facial anatomy and goals

Botox, Dysport or Xeomin — which is right for you?

All three contain botulinum toxin type A and work through the same mechanism. Dysport tends to diffuse slightly more, which can be advantageous in larger treatment areas. Xeomin contains no accessory proteins, which may reduce resistance in patients who have received many treatments over years. Dr. Croland will recommend the appropriate product for your specific anatomy — you do not need to arrive with a preference.

Beyond wrinkles

Neurotoxins are also used at Learn2Renew for TMJ and bruxism (teeth grinding), excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), and subtle jaw slimming in appropriate candidates.

Restoring Structure. Not Adding Volume for Its Own Sake.

Facial aging is not simply a matter of wrinkles forming. It is a structural process — the gradual loss of bone density, fat compartment volume, collagen support, and skin thickness that collectively cause the face to deflate and descend over time. Dermal fillers address this underlying structural change rather than just treating the surface.

Used appropriately, fillers restore what time has taken: volume to cheeks and temples that have hollowed, definition to a jawline that has softened, support to the lower face where volume loss accelerates nasolabial folds. Used in excess — too much product, wrong tissue plane, chasing trends over individual anatomy — they produce the overfilled appearance that has given the filler category an image problem it doesn’t deserve.

Dr. Croland uses hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Revanesse) and calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse), selected based on the treatment area, depth of placement, and desired longevity. Hyaluronic acid fillers carry the added advantage of reversibility — they can be dissolved if the result is not as desired.

Injectable Treatments Are Only as Safe as the Person Performing Them

The face contains major vascular structures, nerve pathways, and tissue planes where misplaced product can cause outcomes ranging from asymmetry and lumping to, in rare cases, serious complications. Injectable treatments are not inherently safe or risky based on the product used — they are safe or risky based on who performs them and how.

A physician’s anatomical training — the depth that comes from medical school, residency, and decades of clinical practice — is categorically different from an injectable certification course available to registered nurses. Dr. Croland has been studying facial anatomy as a clinician since 1992 and has been performing injectables since 2000. That accumulation of clinical pattern recognition cannot be replicated in a shorter training pathway, regardless of the injector’s skill or dedication.

Patients who research their options increasingly seek physician injectors for procedures that carry meaningful anatomical risk. That is a reasonable and well-informed instinct.

Injectables as Part of a Broader Treatment Plan

Neurotoxins and fillers are frequently most effective when used alongside other treatments that address what injectables alone cannot — skin quality, collagen density, and surface texture. Dr. Croland regularly combines injectables with:

Sculptra

Gradual collagen stimulation for patients who prefer a building result over immediate volume. Ideal for diffuse volume loss and skin laxity.

PRP & PRF

Biostimulatory treatments using your own platelets to improve skin texture, tone, and quality from within.

RF Microneedling

Radiofrequency energy delivered via microneedles for skin tightening and collagen remodeling that fillers alone cannot achieve.

Laser Resurfacing

Surface texture, pigmentation, and overall skin quality improvements that complement the structural work of injectables.

Ready to See What’s Possible?

A consultation with Dr. Croland begins with a conversation — about what you are noticing, what concerns you, and what outcome you are realistically hoping for. From there, he will assess your facial anatomy and recommend the treatment approach most likely to get you there. No pressure. No upselling. Just a clinical opinion from a physician who has been doing this for a long time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a doctor actually perform the injections at Learn2Renew in Charlotte?

Yes. Every neurotoxin and filler treatment at Learn2Renew is personally performed by Dr. David Croland, DO, at our Charlotte and Matthews, NC locations. Dr. Croland has been administering Botox since 2000 — before the med spa model existed in its current form — and performs every injection himself rather than delegating to nurses or other staff.

What is the difference between Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin?

All three are botulinum toxin type A neuromodulators that work through the same mechanism. They differ in formulation and diffusion characteristics. Dysport spreads slightly more than Botox, making it advantageous for larger areas. Xeomin contains no accessory proteins, which may reduce resistance in patients who have received many treatments over time. Dr. Croland will recommend the appropriate product for your anatomy and goals.

How long do Botox and filler results last?

Neurotoxins typically last 3–4 months depending on the individual and area treated. Dermal fillers last anywhere from 6 months to 2+ years depending on the product used and placement area. Dr. Croland will give you a realistic expectation for your specific treatment during your consultation.

Will I look natural after my treatment?

Dr. Croland’s philosophy is centered on results that are visible but not identifiable — patients look refreshed rather than treated. He does not pursue the heavily frozen or overfilled aesthetic common at high-volume practices. The outcome he aims for is one where people tell you that you look well-rested, not that they can tell you’ve had something done.

Can Botox and fillers be done in the same appointment?

Yes. Neurotoxins and fillers are frequently combined in a single appointment. Dr. Croland will recommend a treatment sequence based on your specific concerns and the areas being addressed.

How much does Botox cost in Charlotte NC?

Neurotoxin pricing at Learn2Renew is based on the number of units used, which varies by treatment area, muscle mass, and desired result. Dermal fillers are priced starting at $700 per syringe. Exact pricing is discussed during your consultation at our Charlotte or Matthews, NC location after Dr. Croland has assessed your specific needs.

How should I prepare for my injectable treatment?

Avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil supplements for at least one week prior to treatment to reduce bruising risk. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand. Arrive without heavy makeup if possible. Plan treatments at least two weeks before any important event to allow for any swelling or bruising to resolve.

Can fillers be dissolved if I don’t like the result?

Hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Revanesse) can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if the result is not as desired. Radiesse and other non-HA fillers are not reversible but are metabolized by the body over time. Dr. Croland will discuss which products are being used and what to expect during your consultation.
